There is no “right time”

Often when we think about big life decisions like moving house or city, changing jobs or going overseas, we cop out of it with the old line “it’s just not the right time”.  I have realised there is no such thing as the elusive “right time”.

If you wait until you are ready and know it’s the right time you will be waiting forever.  There is this moment, this day, this life.  Don’t be fooled, this is the one shot you’ve got so make it count!

Life is too short to wonder what could have been.  Sometimes it’s good to remember our mortality, we don’t know what’s going to happen and we could die at any time.  If you died tomorrow what would you be remembered for?  It won’t be for getting that project done on time, having a big house or how much money you made.  It will be how you made people feel and how you lived your life.

Living overseas I yearn for everything and nothing from home all at once.  The good and the bad are tied together, I miss the comfort and safety of home, but this routine and comfort zone is what I felt desperate to escape.

I feel this about working as a lawyer too, I miss the people and the analytical nature of the work, but I’m also so glad to be free of being in a closed indoor office environment for long hours, the pressure, and lack of time for my dreams.

We need to create the life we want, not end up doing something we don’t enjoy but that is comfortable so we stay in a cycle of mundanity and unhappiness.

If your time was up tomorrow would you be satisfied and know you gave it all you got, that you did what you wanted to do?  Or would you be questioning why you wasted it away, full of regret.

It doesn’t matter what it is that you do, as long as you are passionate about it and it makes you happy!

My friend owns and runs three businesses, online programs, is a magazine writer, a brand ambassador and a gorgeous person who always makes time for others.  Does she work damn hard? Yes.  Does she get enormous satisfaction from what she does? Yes.

I’m not saying don’t work, I’m saying make sure it’s something you actually want to be doing –  it’s your life!  It’s pretty scary when you think about how much of your life is spent at work.

The life of your dreams won’t be handed to you on a platter, it’s up to you to make it happen, and the time is now.  So take a risk, chose to live the life you want and fill your life with amazing memories.
